Chief Negotiator’s Blog: 2.21.22

Attendees: K.Buffkin, K. Bannister, P. Diplock, G. Kersaint,

After asking for a counter proposal from the Administration on Article 19 (Compensation) for almost three weeks, and with the insistence that UConn was not going to the Breakout Room, we received a proposal at the 11th hour. As you will see, it provides a good first year to begin to address inflation, but then falls short over the length of the contract. And it fails to include any equity/retention/compression issues. We will work tomorrow on a counter proposal to have ready for the Breakout Room.

Negotiations Update

Due to an illness in the Lamont administration staff, the “Escape Room” scheduled for this weekend has been moved to February 23rd, 24th, and 25th. UConn-AAUP Negotiating Team continues to meet with the administration representatives and pass proposals on several important, unresolved issues, although without much success. We will continue to stand firm on issues we feel are important for our members.

To support our Negotiating Team as they go into the final days of negotiations, we ask that you:  1) proudly display your UCONN-AAUP buttons and stickers; 2)  Follow the link to a flyer voicing support of the union to print and display on your office doors; and 3) click the link to an email card to voice your support directly to the negotiating team. Hard copies of the flyer and UCONN-AAUP buttons also will be available at the UCONN-AAUP office for easy pick-up.
