UPDATE (6/15/15)

Dear Member:

AAUP-CBC elections were conducted on Friday, June 12, in conjunction with our annual business meeting in Washington, DC.

The following individuals were elected to office for two-year terms ending in June 2017.

Howard Bunsis (Accounting), Eastern Michigan University, was re-elected as chair.

Paul Davis (Behavioral & Social Sciences), Cincinnati State Technical & Community College, was re-elected as vice chair.

Cecil Canton (Criminal Justice), California State University–Sacramento, was re-elected as member at large.

Katherine Morrison (Community Health & Wellness), Curry College, was re-elected as member at large.

José Padín (Sociology), Portland State University, was elected as member at large.

Dear AAUP-CBC Chapter Member:

The AAUP-CBC is accepting nominations for candidates for executive committee elections to be held at the June 2015 AAUP-CBC annual meeting. In accordance with the AAUP-CBC bylaws, the nominating committee for the 2015 AAUP-CBC Executive Committee elections has been appointed. The members of the committee are Deborah Cooperstein, chair, Adelphi University; Michael Dreiling, University of Oregon; Martin Kich, Wright State University; Greg Loving, University of Cincinnati; and Vijay Nair, Connecticut State University.

The elections are for the offices of AAUP-CBC chair, vice-chair, three at-large seats. These elections will be conducted on June 11 and 12, 2015, in Washington, DC, in conjunction with the AAUP-CBC annual meeting. The length of term for each position is two years. Those nominated will be provided the opportunity to briefly address the congress at the June meeting.

We are also writing to invite nominees for the positions listed above. To guide you in this process, please refer to the AAUP-CBC constitution (available at: http://www.aaupcbc.org/about/organization/constitution). Please note that in order to be eligible to stand for election, the nominee must be a member of a member unit of the Collective Bargaining Congress, as defined in Article III.

After April 1, 2015, candidates may be nominated by petition. The nomination petition shall clearly state the name of the individual being nominated and the nominee’s unit affiliation. Each nomination shall be in writing and shall include a signed consent from the nominee. For the name of the nominee to be included on the printed candidate ballot to be distributed to the member units prior to the meeting at which the election will occur, the nomination petition and statements must be received by the chairperson of the nominating committee by May 1. Nomination petitions must contain the signatures of at least ten members from no fewer than two different units. Nominations by petition must be received by the nominating committee, at the below address, no later than 5:00 PM on June 9, 2015.

The federal Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA) prohibits individuals who have been convicted of certain crimes from holding office or employment in labor organizations. Therefore, nominees for office will be required to execute a Certification of Qualification for AAUP-CBC Service under LMRDA prior to being placed on the ballot. NOMINATIONS BY CONSENT

Each nomination shall be in writing and shall include a signed consent from the nominee. The nominating form can be signed by any member of a member unit of the Collective Bargaining Congress, as defined in Article III.  Upon receipt of the nominations, the nominating committee will deliberate and confirm the eligibility of the nominees. All such nominations must be received by the nominating committee, at the below address, no later than 5:00 PM on March 31, 2015. On April 1, 2015 the nominating committee shall distribute the list of candidates to the member units.

The nomination must include the nominee’s name, signature, and unit affiliation and a nomination petition containing the signatures of at least ten members from no fewer than two different units. In order to make an effective nomination from the floor, the below nomination forms must be received by the AAUP-CBC secretary at the annual meeting between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM on June 11, 2015. In addition, the nomination must be made from the floor of the annual meeting by a delegate in good standing.
