Chief Negotiator’s Blog: We Have Reached an Agreement

TENTATIVE AGREEMENT REACHED

On March 5, 2022, UConn-AAUP and the BOT reached a Tentative Agreement in our negotiations for a successor collective bargaining agreement. This Agreement comes more than 18 months after commencing negotiations in the fall of 2020 and included a hard-fought extension agreement in the Summer of 2021. Your negotiating team stood firm and focused then and right to the end.

We first want to take a minute to thank the negotiating team for giving an enormous amount of their personal time to reach this agreement. They are Tom Peters, Lyle Scruggs, Jean McCarthy, Suman Majumdar and David Amdur. We are pleased with the improvements that have been made to the contract and proud of defending the benefits and protections from past negotiations.

It is now time for our membership and the Board of Trustees to ratify this Temporary Agreement and send it to the legislature for funding. We will be holding 2 informational meetings for you to review the improvements to the contract. They are:

We will be balloting from Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 8:00 am through to Monday March 28, 2022, at 5:00 pm via Survey and Ballot. You will receive more information as those dates near.
