UConn-AAUP Update: July 14, 2021

Contract Extension Agreement Update: Day 14 – No Contract Extension Agreement (CEA)

As of today, we are the only state employee bargaining unit whose contract has expired and whose employer has not agreed to an extension of the expired agreement. There are 31 other state employee bargaining units under contract. The Board of Trustees (BOT) has agree to extend certain provisions of the expired contract, but not the full contract. Dan Toscano, Chair of the Board, and Members of the Board should be ashamed of themselves. And this is all over issues that should be resolved at the bargaining table. Is this what is in the best interest of the University? Quite simply, NO.

Action Items: 1.) Email UConn-AAUP if you are concerned. We will relay the total numerical count (preserving your anonymity) to Provost to show your concern. Do so ASAP.  We have some momentum and wish to capitalize on our shared outrage to try and finalize an agreement. 2.) Wear your UConn-AAUP button at Zoom and Webex meetings and “NO Extension Agreement” on your name plate.

In Solidarity!
