NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE
At 2:30 am Saturday morning, there were 6 state employee bargaining units that had not completed their negotiations for a new CBA. They were UConn-AAUP, UCPEA, Community College Faulty, SEIU, and an Executive Branch unit. UConn-AAUP and UCPEA had significant unresolved issues due to delays and unresponsiveness by the BOT’s chief negotiator in trying to negotiate with 2 units at the same time. The Community College faculty have walked away from the table due to unacceptable proposals on job security and consolidation. SEIU has reached impasse, and the negotiators for an executive branch unit are unable to respond to an economic issue due a lack of authority in the Lamont administration. Negotiations were extended to Monday, February 28th at 5:00 pm.
UCPEA began the day with the administration at 10:00 pm and UConn-AAUP was scheduled to start at 1:00 pm. At 6:50 pm last night, UCPEA had reached an agreement. Although UConn-AAUP exchanged proposals during the day, we did not engage the administration until 5:00 pm.
We were able to make significant progress on reaching agreement on many proposals and have Articles 1 and 2, Article 12 Personnel Files, Article 19 Salary and Benefits, Article 20 Minimum Terms, Article 37 Coaches, and Article 38 Summer and Winter Compensation remaining unresolved. We will continue to negotiate until we reach resolution on all articles of the contract.
In Solidarity,
Your Negotiating Team
