Letter to Provost Lejuez: COVID Policies at Stamford Inadequate – Safety Concerns

Many Stamford faculty have informed the UConn-AAUP Executive Committee of deep concerns about the safety of their working conditions regarding COVID-19 protocols. They state that Stamford Administration policies on vaccination, testing, masking, and social distancing need to align with the policies at the Storrs campus and be more strongly enforced. In response, the UConn-AAUP Executive Committee sent a letter to Provost Lejuez last week stating these concerns and including come recommended solutions. The Provost has not yet responded to our letter.

Representative Assembly Vacancies

The Representative Assembly was instituted by the Chapter in 2014. The Assembly, similar to a stewards’ program, provides a first line of contact for department members who may have concerns about the terms and conditions of their employment. The Assembly also provides communication between departments and the executive committee. Representatives will become more familiar with the contract and be able to assist members who may need support or more information from AAUP. Meetings are on the third Wednesday of each month from 12:30 – 2:00 PM.

Representatives are needed for the departments listed below. Please contact Barbara at BarbaraK@uconnaaup.org once a person has been identified to fill the role. The next meeting is on Wednesday, October 20th from 12:30-2:00 PM.
