SEBAC Health Care Survey
Preparations are underway as the 35 local bargaining units under SEBAC, the (State Employee Bargaining Agent Coalition), near the formal start of negotiations with the State for the next SEBAC Pension and Healthcare Agreement.
Throughout the past year, SEBAC held three in-person statewide SEBAC meetings with hundreds of leaders and staff from across the coalition. SEBAC has held listening sessions on key areas like Tier IV, Hazardous Duty, Telework and Higher Education, bringing rank-and-file member stories directly to the Governor’s Chief of Staff. Over 7,00 members completed the first survey last year that shaped those initial steps and as we embark on this next phase, it’s more important than ever that we hear from as many rank-and-file members.
This survey asks about your bargaining unit, years of service, retirement tier, benefits, workplace issues, and the actions you may be willing to take to help win a fair agreement. If you filled out the survey the first time, we are interested in whether any of your thoughts, concerns and opinions have changed. If you missed the first survey, this is your chance to let your voice be heard ahead of negotiations!!! HERE is a link to the new survey.

2026 Summer Pay
For some faculty, the 4.5% base pay increase effective August 23, 2025, was not used to calculate the max earnings for summer pay. Therefore, the 12% of the faculty member’s normal academic year salary cap was lower than it should have been and members were notified that they had exceeded their 3/9th’s earnings. Some of their earnings may have gone into their research account. The administration is aware of this and is in the process of correcting. But members may need to work within their departments/school/college to ensure that they have processed the pay correctly. Please reach out to your department/school/college if you have been notified that you exceeded your maximum summer pay.

Salary Adjustment and Retroactive Lump Sum Payouts for FY27
UConn-AAUP has filed a grievance on the notice from the administration that the FY27 salary increase will not be paid according to the terms of the contract. The contract is clear that the 2.5% wage increase and 2% merit pay will be effective August 23, 2026.

UConn-AAUP Staff Union Negotiations
The staff of the UConn-AAUP have formed a union, known as the UConn-AAUP Staff Union (UASU). UConn-AAUP has formally recognized the new union, and the two parties are currently negotiating a contract. As is the norm, the UASU does not include the Executive Director.
AAUP members who are interested in serving as an observer at a contract bargaining session should contact Prof. Jeremy Pressman for further information at jeremy.pressman@gmail.com
