UConn-AAUP is addressing increases in your workload in two ways:

Arbitrations:  UConn-AAUP is engaging in interest arbitration of Article 30 (Faculty Participation in Department Governance – Workload) and Article 14 (Reduction of Staff for Discontinuance of Programs or for Financial Exigency). We were unable to negotiate improvements in Article 30 during negotiations as the administration wanted to insert the Provost as the final decisionmaker for ensuring “equity” among departments, as well as other destructive faculty governance issues with their proposals. We would not agree to that, and thus have an arbitration scheduled for October and November. We were also unable to agree to Article 14 in negotiations due to the administration attempting to limit who Article 14 actually covers in reduction of staff.

Grievances:  UConn-AAUP has also filed for arbitration due to increases in course enrollments, increases in course assignments for CIRE faculty, decreases in course releases and reduction in TA allocations. That arbitration is also scheduled for this semester.

UConn-AAUP is also addressing your pay increase schedule:

Grievance: We have notified Labor Relations that we intent to file for arbitration on the FY27 negotiated salary increase date of August 23, 2026. The contract specifies that the FY27 increase will occur on August 23, 2026, which has passed without any increase to your salary.
