Quick 5 minute Action!
5 minutes– That is all you need to read the below and ACT for a stronger UConn. Your action makes the union stronger & we’re in the fight for a better UConn together!
There has not been movement on our key bargaining priorities. So, we’re changing tactics and organizing a 24-hr email zap this Tuesday 11/18 12:01AM-11:59PM. Your participation is crucial to achieving our goal of sending 500 emails directly to UConn’s bargaining team during the next negotiations session. Here’s what to do:
1. Open your UConn email and get ready to send a message to everyone from Administration’s bargaining team. ***See update received via email for email addresses, or contact general@uconnaaup.org****
2. Choose a message (You can, of course, send multiple messages if you’d like)
- SUBJECT: Academic freedom is important to me
Hello –
UConn AAUP members deserve to have academic freedom guaranteed in our contract. It is fundamental to many facets of our jobs. I’m asking you to take action on this today and agree to UConn-AAUP’s latest proposal for Article 3: Academic Freedom. By signing off on Article 3, you can make UConn a stronger institution.
Thank you, - SUBJECT: I care about CIRE faculty
Hello –
As someone who cares about UConn, I am writing to ask that you respect Clinical, In-Residence, and Extension faculty by reducing the time it takes to earn a multi-year contract with job protections. I’m disappointed by your team’s proposal to hold back job protections until CIRE faculty’s 11th year. That is too long, and CIRE faculty deserve better.
Thank you, - SUBJECT: Families deserve caregiver leave
Hello –
All humans need care at some point in their lives. I believe 16 weeks of guaranteed paid caregiver leave will make UConn stronger. You have an opportunity to help make UConn a more compassionate, human-centered institution, which will also make us more competitive and resilient. We need to do more than just follow the bare minimums required by law. Please respond to UConn-AAUP’s Article 19.6.I proposal for 16 weeks of guaranteed paid family leave today.
Thank you, - SUBJECT: I care about UConn

Hello,
I am writing because I care about UConn and want our contract negotiations to conclude as swiftly as possible. Can you take action today to help make that happen? I hope to hear we are making progress at the table.
