UConn-AAUP Legal Clinic for International UConn Community Members: Friday, May 16th
The UConn-AAUP partnered with Hartford-based immigration attorney Erin O’Neil at Norte Law for a one-day legal clinic on Friday, May 16th. O’Neil presented to a full room about recent developments in US immigration law and then met with individuals at UConn for one-on-one consultations to answer questions related to their specific legal status in the United States.
These consultations were free of charge courtesy of the UConn-AAUP International Scholars Defense Fund. UConn-AAUP leaders also had information on hand for individuals about guardian ad litem/power of attorney to support individuals in need of preparing a legal emergency document kit.
Special thank you to members of the UConn-AAUP that came out to support this effort and continue to support the efforts to support colleagues that need support during this time.
Connecticut for All: Week of Action
It is crucial that our legislative leaders take action in the session’s final weeks. Connecticut for All and partnering organizations around the state are rallying around key issues of funding, loss of resources, protections for all members or communities and progressive tax reforms.
Yesterday, UConn-AAUP co-sponsored an action to support Connecticut for All’s Equity Agenda in downtown Storrs. Over 75 people joined the rally to support the state’s equity agenda. Thank you to everyone that showed up and stood up for UConn and a strong equitable budget, and protections for all members of our community!
